Healthcare Data Analyst Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a healthcare data analyst in Alabama?
Most Alabama employers require a bachelor's degree in health informatics, data science, public health, or a related analytical field. Alabama has no state-issued license specific to healthcare data analysts, so hiring decisions center on technical skills, healthcare domain knowledge, and credentials like the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) offered through AHIMA, both of which are recognized by major Alabama health systems and payers.
How much do healthcare data analysts make in Alabama?
Healthcare data analysts in Alabama earn a median of about $103,120 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,130 for the lowest 10% to over $161,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire healthcare data analysts in Alabama?
Companies currently hiring healthcare data analysts in Alabama include Raytheon, MDB Health Services, and Boeing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alabama's concentration of academic medical centers, regional hospital networks, and large insurance payers like Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama creates consistent year-round demand across both clinical and administrative analytics functions.
Which Alabama cities have the most healthcare data analyst jobs?
The cities with the most healthcare data analyst openings in Alabama are Huntsville, Birmingham, and Dothan. Birmingham drives the largest share of listings because it is home to UAB Health System, one of the largest academic medical employers in the Southeast, along with major insurers and regional hospital networks that all maintain analytics teams.
Are there remote healthcare data analyst jobs in Alabama?
Yes, and more than most healthcare roles, since the work is desk-based and data-driven rather than hands-on or clinical. About 29% of healthcare data analyst openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the broader shift among payers and health systems to support distributed analytics teams. Population health, claims analysis, and reporting roles are the functions most commonly offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a healthcare data analyst in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a health information or health informatics role at a mid-size Alabama hospital, where you can build EHR and coding exposure before moving into analysis. UAB Medicine and Huntsville Hospital Health System both post health information technician and data coordinator openings that serve as stepping stones. Earning the CHDA or completing a health informatics certificate through the University of Alabama at Birmingham's continuing education programs strengthens a thin resume considerably.
Where can I find and apply to healthcare data analyst jobs in Alabama?
You can find and apply to healthcare data analyst jobs in Alabama on Migrate Mate, which lists current Alabama openings across hospital systems, payers, and health technology employers. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to whichever ones fit.
