Healthcare Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a healthcare job in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia's strongest hiring comes from its academic medical centers, large regional hospital networks, and federally qualified health centers serving the city's diverse neighborhoods. Candidates who stand out typically have clinical or administrative experience tied to high-volume, urban patient populations. Familiarity with community health settings in areas like Kensington, West Philadelphia, or South Philly gives applicants a concrete edge with employers prioritizing underserved-community care.
Which companies hire healthcares in Philadelphia?
Employers hiring healthcares in Philadelphia right now include JPMorganChase, Aramark, and Alvarez & Marsal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Philadelphia's healthcare employer base ranges from nationally ranked academic health systems and children's hospitals to independent specialty practices and long-term care facilities spread across the city's distinct neighborhoods.
Are there remote healthcare jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, but with important limits: hands-on clinical roles are overwhelmingly on-site, while desk-based and analytical positions such as health informatics, medical coding, and care coordination are far more remote-compatible. About 75% of healthcare openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Population health management and telehealth coordination roles are among the most consistently remote-eligible positions in the Philadelphia market.
How can I get a healthcare job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is through patient services representative, medical assistant, or community health worker roles at federally qualified health centers and neighborhood health clinics, which regularly hire candidates without extensive backgrounds. Philadelphia's network of community health organizations in areas like North Philadelphia and Southwest Philly actively recruits entry-level staff. Volunteering at a Philadelphia-area hospital or earning a recognized certification such as a CNA or phlebotomy credential can shorten the timeline considerably.
Which industries hire the most healthcares in Philadelphia?
Philadelphia healthcare roles concentrate in Insurance and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Philadelphia's status as a major academic medicine hub, anchored by several nationally ranked health systems and medical schools, drives sustained hiring across these sectors well beyond what a city its size would typically support.
