Human Resources Intern Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources intern in Mississippi?
Most human resources intern roles in Mississippi require active enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor's program in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field. Mississippi does not require a state-issued license to work as an HR intern. Employers across Jackson and other major markets typically look for candidates who have completed relevant coursework in employment law, organizational behavior, or compensation and who can demonstrate basic proficiency with HR information systems.
Which companies hire human resources interns in Mississippi?
Mississippi human resources intern roles are posted by Amazon, Milwaukee Tool, and Ashley Furniture HomeStore and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's healthcare networks, state universities, and manufacturing firms are particularly consistent sources of HR intern openings throughout the year.
Which Mississippi cities have the most human resources intern jobs?
Jackson, Olive Branch, and Hattiesburg have the most human resources intern openings in Mississippi. Jackson dominates as the state capital and largest metro, home to major hospital systems, state agencies, and corporate headquarters, while Hattiesburg and Tupelo draw openings from their respective concentrations of healthcare providers, manufacturers, and regional university campuses that maintain active HR departments.
Are there remote human resources intern jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, though they are less common than on-site roles, since HR intern work often involves in-person onboarding support, file handling, and direct employee interaction. About 25% of human resources intern openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be concentrated in administrative or data-entry-heavy tasks such as maintaining HRIS records or drafting policy documentation.
How can I get hired as a human resources intern in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured internship programs at Mississippi's large healthcare systems, state universities, and manufacturing employers, many of which post formal summer or semester intern cohorts designed for students with no prior HR work history. Roles like administrative assistant or office coordinator at these organizations often serve as lateral entry points. Completing SHRM's student membership program or earning a foundational certification such as the SHRM Certified Professional study credential gives Mississippi candidates a measurable edge over equally inexperienced applicants.
