Mid Level Industrial Hygienist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level industrial hygienist job?
Position your existing experience around ownership and outcomes: highlight assessments you led independently, programs you improved, and compliance issues you resolved without close supervision. Employers hiring at this level want evidence you can manage a full project cycle, not just execute tasks. A Certified Industrial Hygienist credential, even in progress, strengthens your application significantly. Tailor your resume to the specific hazards and industries listed in each posting.
Which companies hire mid level industrial hygienists?
Companies hiring mid level industrial hygienists right now include Terracon Consultants, WSP, and Atrium Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level tends to come from large manufacturers, chemical and energy companies, healthcare systems, and EHS consulting firms that need professionals who can manage programs with real autonomy.
Are there remote mid level industrial hygienist jobs?
Yes, though most industrial hygiene work involves on-site assessments that limit full remote options. About 14% of mid level industrial hygienist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these roles typically involve program management, reporting, training development, or consulting work that can be done off-site between field visits.
How do I move up to a mid level industrial hygienist role?
The path from entry level to mid level industrial hygienist comes through accumulating ownership over time: running your own sampling campaigns, interpreting results without a senior reviewing every step, and building familiarity with OSHA standards across multiple hazard categories. Pursuing your CIH associate credential, taking on special projects, and demonstrating measurable impact on compliance outcomes signals to employers that you are ready to step up.
Which industries hire the most mid level industrial hygienists?
Mid Level industrial hygienist roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Automotive, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring because their operations involve complex physical, chemical, and biological hazards that require experienced professionals to manage ongoing compliance programs rather than occasional audits.
