Insurance Jobs in Columbus: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an insurance job in Columbus?
Focus your search on Columbus's dense concentration of regional carriers, third-party administrators, and independent agencies clustered Downtown and around Polaris Parkway. Claims, underwriting, and account management roles see consistent hiring across property and casualty and employee benefits lines. Candidates who demonstrate familiarity with commercial accounts or who hold active lines-of-authority licenses stand out in a market where employers move quickly from interview to offer.
Which companies hire insurance professionals in Columbus?
Columbus insurance roles are posted by Kemper, JPMorganChase, and Huntington Bank and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The Columbus market includes a mix of Fortune 500 national carriers with major operations here, regional mutual companies, and a growing number of insurtech-backed agencies serving commercial and personal lines clients.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Columbus?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role. Desk-based work such as underwriting, claims adjusting, and policy processing is routinely offered remotely, while client-facing agency and field sales positions are almost always on-site. About 51% of insurance openings tied to Columbus are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly carriers here have adopted flexible arrangements since expanding their downtown and Easton-area offices.
How can I get an insurance job in Columbus with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Columbus is through customer service or claims support roles at one of the large carrier operations based Downtown or near Polaris. Many Columbus employers hire candidates without prior insurance experience into trainee programs and sponsor their property-casualty or life-health licensing as part of onboarding. Highlighting a background in customer service, finance, or data entry and expressing willingness to obtain a license quickly gives entry-level applicants a concrete edge locally.
