Glascock Street LLP is seeking a motivated associate attorney who wants to develop into an accomplished trial lawyer. Our firm focuses on defending personal injury and other civil litigation matters, and we take more cases to trial than many insurance defense firms in the Portland area.

Associates are encouraged to take ownership of their work, develop their litigation skills, and assume increasing responsibility for managing cases.

The ideal candidate is a strong legal writer, an effective communicator, and a motivated professional who takes initiative, exercises sound judgment, and is committed to providing excellent client service. We value attorneys who are organized, accountable, and understand the importance of efficiency, meeting deadlines, and maintaining consistent billing practices.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with partners on all aspects of civil litigation, with opportunities to independently manage cases as experience develops
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and client reports
• Manage written discovery, document production, and case investigation
• Take and defend depositions
• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and colleagues
• Manage competing deadlines and responsibilities while maintaining high-quality work product
• Meet the firm's annual billable hour expectation of 1,800 hours
• Accurately record and enter billable time daily, with clear, detailed descriptions consistent with client billing guidelines

Qualifications

• Active membership in the Oregon State Bar (Washington State Bar admission is a plus)
• At least three years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Experience taking depositions and managing discovery
• Excellent communication, organizational, and case management skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
• Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload efficiently and meet billable hour expectations
• Commitment to accurate, timely, and consistent daily time entry
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and personal accountability
• Genuine interest in developing trial advocacy skills and taking cases to trial

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary of $90,000–$140,000, depending on experience and qualifications
