Investigator Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a investigator job in Los Angeles?
The strongest entry points in Los Angeles are insurance carriers in Woodland Hills, law firms in Century City, and entertainment companies in Burbank and Hollywood that need intellectual property and background investigators. Candidates who know Los Angeles geography well, have experience with surveillance or case documentation, and can navigate the city's sprawl efficiently stand out in a market where field work is often time-sensitive and location-dependent.
Which companies hire investigators in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring investigators in Los Angeles right now include Frasco, California State University, and Rimkus, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market includes a mix of large insurance carriers, private investigation firms, financial institutions, and entertainment studios with in-house security and compliance teams.
Are there remote investigator jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, but only for specific types of investigator work. Hands-on surveillance, field interviews, and on-site inspections remain in-person by nature, while fraud analysis, case review, and insurance claims investigation often allow remote or hybrid arrangements. About 38% of investigator openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with desk-based and analytical roles in financial services and insurance most likely to offer that flexibility.
How can I get a investigator job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is through insurance companies in the San Fernando Valley or Westside that hire claims trainees and junior adjusters, roles that build the documentation and interviewing skills investigators need. Security officer positions with studios in Burbank or corporate campuses in El Segundo also offer lateral moves into investigations. A California Guard Card, strong written communication skills, and familiarity with LA County's court and records systems give entry-level candidates a concrete edge locally.
Which industries hire the most investigators in Los Angeles?
Los Angeles investigator roles concentrate in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The city's size as an insurance market, its entertainment industry with significant IP and fraud exposure, and its dense financial services sector all drive consistent demand for investigative talent.
