Entry Level Investigator Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level investigator job?
Entry level investigator roles typically look for candidates with a degree in criminal justice, business, finance, or a related field, though internship experience or relevant coursework can substitute for a formal credential. Employers at this stage prioritize attention to detail, report-writing ability, and familiarity with research tools. Certifications in fraud examination or background screening give candidates a concrete edge over other new applicants.
Which companies hire entry level investigators?
Companies hiring entry level investigators right now include Allied Universal Compliance and Investigations, NYC Health + Hospitals, and Island Peer Review Organization, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of employers, including insurance carriers, financial institutions, government contractors, retail loss prevention operations, and private investigation firms.
Are there remote entry level investigator jobs?
Yes, though most entry level investigator roles are on-site or field-based by nature. About 28% of entry level investigator openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work more common in insurance claims review, fraud analysis, and compliance-focused roles that rely on database research rather than in-person interviews or site visits.
Are these new grad investigator jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior investigator roles. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or college practicums in place of full-time work history, or lists a portfolio of casework as an acceptable credential. If the posting does not require prior employment, it fits the new grad category.
Which industries hire the most entry level investigators?
Entry Level investigator roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they face ongoing demand for fraud detection, compliance monitoring, background screening, and claims review, functions that are well-suited to candidates who are early in their careers but trained in structured research and documentation.
