Investment Associate Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an investment associate job in Chicago?
Target Chicago's dense Loop and River North financial district, where private equity firms, hedge funds, and asset managers cluster. Boutique PE shops along LaSalle Street and the Magnificent Mile corridor hire regularly, often preferring candidates with investment banking analyst experience or an MBA from a local program like Booth or Kellogg. A background in modeling, deal sourcing, or portfolio monitoring gives candidates a clear edge in Chicago's competitive buy-side market.
Which companies hire investment associates in Chicago?
Employers hiring investment associates in Chicago right now include Fitch Ratings, Google, and Deloitte, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's hiring base skews toward established private equity firms, middle-market buyout shops, and diversified asset managers with deep roots in the Midwest financial community.
Are there remote investment associate jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though remote availability is limited for deal-focused roles that require in-person diligence, client meetings, and internal collaboration. About 35% of investment associate openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements more common than fully remote. Analytical and portfolio monitoring functions within larger Chicago asset managers tend to offer the most scheduling flexibility.
How can I get an investment associate job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is through a financial analyst or junior analyst role at a middle-market investment bank or regional boutique in the Loop, then lateral into an associate seat after one to two years. Chicago firms including community development financial institutions and family offices also hire junior analysts with strong modeling skills and less traditional backgrounds. Completing a CFA Level I and building a deal or portfolio case study before applying significantly strengthens a first application.
Which industries hire the most investment associates in Chicago?
The sectors hiring the most investment associates in Chicago are Investment & Asset Management, Consulting & Professional Services, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's role as a Midwest financial hub, combined with its strength in real estate, infrastructure, and diversified financial services, drives consistent demand for investment associates well beyond Wall Street-style banking.
