Investment Associate Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an investment associate in Illinois?
Most investment associate roles in Illinois require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting, followed by relevant experience in banking or financial analysis. Illinois does not issue a state-specific investment associate license, but most employers expect FINRA registration, typically Series 63 or Series 65, coordinated through your employer once hired. Candidates who complete an internship or analyst program at a Chicago-area firm have the clearest path to a full associate offer.
Which companies hire investment associates in Illinois?
Employers hiring investment associates in Illinois right now include JPMorganChase, Northern Trust, and Baird, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Chicago's dense concentration of private equity firms, regional banks, and asset managers means Illinois consistently ranks among the most active states for this role nationwide.
Which Illinois cities have the most investment associate jobs?
Chicago, Wheaton, and Wilmette have the most investment associate openings in Illinois. Chicago dominates because it anchors the Midwest's private equity, venture capital, and institutional asset management ecosystem, while suburban markets like Evanston and Oak Brook add volume through corporate treasury functions and regional bank headquarters located outside the downtown loop.
Are there remote investment associate jobs in Illinois?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical fields, since many investment associate roles involve in-person deal work and client interaction. About 40% of investment associate openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the remote portion concentrated in portfolio monitoring, financial modeling, and research-focused sub-roles rather than origination or relationship management positions.
How can I get hired as an investment associate in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a structured analyst program at a Chicago-area firm, where candidates are hired directly out of undergraduate programs into two-year rotations before promotion to associate. Firms like Northern Trust and William Blair run recognized analyst programs that serve as feeders to associate roles. Candidates from adjacent positions such as financial analyst, credit analyst, or corporate banking analyst commonly make the lateral move, and holding or actively pursuing FINRA registration gives an immediate edge in the screening process.
Where can I find and apply to investment associate jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to investment associate jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings updated regularly. Find the roles that fit your experience and target firms, then apply directly to each opening without creating a profile or signing up.
