You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager for Mobile Core iOS and can work from either our Seattle, Irvine, San Francisco or our New York City offices.
You Will:
- Own and drive the technical strategy for foundational iOS components, native video playback infrastructure, and hybrid (React in WebView) frameworks
- Architect and build robust WebView infrastructure and bridges that enable seamless integration between React-based web content and native iOS functionality
- Lead performance optimization efforts for platform components used by millions of daily active users, establishing benchmarks and best practices
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to iOS engineers across multiple product teams and within Mobile Core, including onboarding and growing L4/L5 engineers
- Drive cross-organizational architectural decisions that balance developer velocity, app performance, and maintainability, representing Mobile Core's technical perspective in org-wide discussions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain development standards for hybrid mobile applications, influencing adoption across the mobile engineering organization
You Have:
- 6+ years of professional iOS development experience
- Strong proficiency with Swift and the iOS architectural components and ecosystem
- 6+ years of building and shipping production iOS applications to the Apple App Store
- A talent for building consensus around technical decisions and guiding the team along evolving architecture patterns
- Track record of leading major architectural initiatives, migrations, or platform-level projects
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across teams
- Experience leveraging AI-powered development tools (such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) to accelerate development
Bonus Points
- Experience with hybrid mobile architectures, WebView integration, JavaScript bridges, React, or React Native
- Experience with video streaming or real-time communication technologies
- Experience working on platform or infrastructure teams that support multiple product teams

Tips for Your iOS Engineer Job Search
Tailor your resume to each stack
Recruiters scan for Swift versus Objective-C, UIKit versus SwiftUI, and specific SDK experience. List the frameworks and tools from the job posting first, then add supporting context. A generic iOS resume loses to one that mirrors the exact tech stack in the listing.
Showcase shipped apps in your portfolio
Link directly to App Store listings or TestFlight builds whenever possible. Employers want proof of end-to-end delivery, not just code samples. If an app was removed, a demo video or archived screenshots still demonstrates your ability to ship production-quality work.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists ios engineer openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Filter openings by Xcode and SDK version
Some teams still maintain legacy codebases on older Xcode versions or iOS targets. Knowing which SDK generation a role requires helps you decide whether your experience is a strong match before investing time in a cover letter and application.
Prepare for a take-home code challenge
Most iOS interview loops include a take-home project, often a small app built from a spec. Practice building a clean MVVM or MVP architecture under a time constraint so your submission reflects production habits, not just a rushed proof of concept.
Negotiate with performance metrics, not titles
When discussing compensation, anchor your ask to measurable outcomes: load time improvements, crash-rate reductions, or App Store rating lifts you drove. Concrete iOS performance wins give you a stronger case than referencing a previous job title alone.
iOS Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most ios engineers?
The companies hiring the most ios engineers right now include Apple, Amazon, and Google, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Consumer app companies and fintech firms consistently account for a large portion of active ios engineer postings.
How many ios engineer jobs are remote?
About 31% of ios engineer openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting strong demand for distributed mobile talent. Roles focused on greenfield SwiftUI development and SDK integration tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while on-site positions are more common for teams shipping hardware-adjacent or enterprise internal tools.
How do you become a ios engineer?
Start by learning Swift and building small apps using Xcode and Apple's developer documentation. Work through Apple's sample projects, then build and publish your own app to the App Store to demonstrate end-to-end delivery. Deepen your skills in architecture patterns like MVVM, practice debugging with Instruments, and contribute to open-source iOS projects to build a visible portfolio before applying to roles.
Can you get hired as a ios engineer with little experience?
Yes, entry-level ios engineer roles exist, but they expect proof of shipped code rather than years on a resume. Build two or three apps that demonstrate different skills, such as networking, local persistence, and custom UI, and publish them. Internship experience, contributions to open-source iOS repositories, or a strong App Store listing often carry more weight than a degree alone at the junior level.
What does the ios engineer interview process look like?
Most ios engineer interview loops start with a recruiter screen focused on experience and role fit, followed by a technical phone screen covering Swift fundamentals and system design basics. A take-home coding project typically comes next, asking you to build a small feature or app from a spec. Final rounds include live coding in Xcode, architecture discussions, and behavioral interviews with engineering leads and cross-functional partners.
Where can I find and apply to ios engineer jobs?
You can find and apply to ios engineer jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each one that fits.
