Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding J-1 Visa Sponsorship as an Enterprise Sales Specialist
Frame your credentials around structured training
J-1 Trainee sponsorship requires a detailed training plan tied to your field of study or prior work. Document your sales methodology experience, CRM proficiency, and revenue targets in writing before you approach any host employer or designated sponsor.
Target host employers with established training programs
Host employers that already run formal onboarding or sales development programs are far easier to place with a designated sponsor. Search for enterprise software, SaaS, and B2B services companies that advertise structured rotational or development tracks for sales professionals.
Use Migrate Mate to find J-1-aligned roles
Search Migrate Mate to identify U.S. employers and Enterprise Sales Specialist openings that align with J-1 exchange visitor programs, so you're targeting host organizations already familiar with the sponsorship structure rather than educating employers from scratch.
Confirm the 2-year home residency requirement early
Some J-1 Trainee and Specialist participants are subject to a 2-year home-country residency requirement after their program ends. Check your DS-2019 and country of origin before accepting an offer, since this affects any future H-1B or green card plans.
Align your training plan with DOL wage expectations
The host employer's compensation during your J-1 program must be commensurate with U.S. peers in the same role. Cross-reference prevailing wage levels for Enterprise Sales Specialist positions using the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your training stipend or salary.
Initiate the DS-2019 process well before your start date
Your designated sponsor issues the DS-2019 form only after the host employer submits a completed training plan for review. This review process typically takes several weeks, so confirm your host's internal HR timeline and submit all paperwork at least 60 days before your intended start.

Find Enterprise Sales Specialist JobsEnterprise Sales Specialist J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category fits an Enterprise Sales Specialist role?
The Trainee category applies if you've completed a degree within the past 12 months or have relevant work experience under five years. The Specialist category fits professionals with significant expertise in a niche field. Enterprise sales roles typically fall under Trainee, since the program is designed around structured, on-the-job skill development in business and management disciplines.
Who actually sponsors the J-1 visa, and what does the host employer do?
The visa sponsor is a U.S. Department of State-designated organization, such as CIEE, Cultural Vistas, or AIPT. That organization issues your DS-2019, signs your training plan, and monitors program compliance. The hiring company is your host employer, not your visa sponsor. Conflating the two is a common mistake that leads to misaligned expectations during the offer stage.
How do I find Enterprise Sales Specialist positions that work with J-1 sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by J-1 compatibility, which means you waste time approaching employers unfamiliar with the host-employer structure. Migrate Mate is built to surface U.S. roles and employers aligned with exchange visitor programs, so you can focus outreach on companies already open to hosting J-1 participants rather than starting from scratch with cold education.
Can an Enterprise Sales Specialist on a J-1 visa transition to an H-1B later?
It's possible, but the 2-year home residency requirement can block the path. If your DS-2019 carries that condition, you must return to your home country for two years before becoming eligible for H-1B or most immigrant visa categories, unless you obtain a waiver. Confirm your exchange visitor category and country of nationality with your designated sponsor before making long-term career plans.
What should the training plan include for an Enterprise Sales Specialist position?
The training plan, submitted by the host employer to the designated sponsor, must specify learning objectives, activities by phase, supervision structure, and how each element develops your professional skills. For enterprise sales roles, this typically covers pipeline management methodology, enterprise account strategy, CRM platform training, and cross-functional collaboration with product and solutions teams. Vague or generic plans are a common reason for delays in DS-2019 issuance.
