Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding J-1 Visa Sponsorship in Palo Alto Networks
Align your DS-2019 category early
Current students pursuing cybersecurity or engineering internships at Palo Alto Networks typically qualify for the J-1 Intern category. Professionals who have graduated within the past year fall under Trainee, which carries different program length limits and training plan requirements.
Verify your role meets specialty occupation criteria
Use O*NET to confirm that the specific Palo Alto Networks job title, such as threat intelligence analyst or cloud security engineer, maps to a specialty occupation. Designated sponsors will review this alignment before issuing a DS-2019.
Search Migrate Mate for J-1-friendly openings
Not every Palo Alto Networks listing is structured for J-1 exchange visitors. Migrate Mate filters U.S. employer roles by visa compatibility, so you can identify which positions have been structured to work with a designated sponsor.
Secure your training plan before the offer stage
Designated sponsors like CIEE or Cultural Vistas require a completed training plan, form DS-7002, signed by your Palo Alto Networks host supervisor before issuing a DS-2019. Get your hiring manager to commit to this early in the offer process.
Check for a two-year home residency requirement
J-1 participants funded by their home government or in certain skills-shortage fields may be subject to a two-year home residency requirement after program completion. Confirm your eligibility for a waiver with USCIS before accepting a Palo Alto Networks offer.
Prepare your credentials for sponsor review
Designated sponsors require official transcripts, a current resume, and proof of English proficiency before processing your DS-2019. Gather these documents in a certified English translation if your degree was issued outside the United States.

Find Palo Alto Networks JobsPalo Alto Networks J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category fits a Palo Alto Networks role?
It depends on your current status. Enrolled students doing a structured internship with Palo Alto Networks typically qualify for the J-1 Intern category, which allows programs up to 12 months. If you have graduated within the past 12 months and are building on your degree through a professional placement, the Trainee category applies instead, with programs up to 18 months for non-hospitality fields.
Who actually sponsors the J-1 visa for a Palo Alto Networks placement?
Palo Alto Networks acts as the host employer, not the visa sponsor. The J-1 visa is issued through a U.S. Department of State-designated sponsor organization, such as CIEE, Cultural Vistas, or IIE, which reviews the placement, issues the DS-2019, and monitors compliance throughout your program. Your offer from Palo Alto Networks is a precondition for sponsor involvement, not a substitute for it.
How do I find Palo Alto Networks roles that work with J-1 sponsorship?
Standard job listings rarely specify J-1 compatibility because the visa is administered through a third-party sponsor, not directly by the employer. Migrate Mate surfaces U.S. employer roles structured for exchange visitors, letting you filter by visa type and job category so you can identify Palo Alto Networks or equivalent cybersecurity positions before applying.
Does the two-year home residency requirement affect Palo Alto Networks J-1 participants?
It can. Exchange visitors whose programs are funded by their home government, or who hold skills that appear on the State Department's Exchange Visitor Skills List for their country, may be subject to a two-year home residency requirement. If you are affected, you must either return home for two years or obtain a waiver through USCIS before changing to an H-1B or other work status after your program ends.
What documents does a designated sponsor need before issuing a DS-2019 for a Palo Alto Networks placement?
Sponsors typically require official academic transcripts, a signed training plan on form DS-7002 completed by the Palo Alto Networks host supervisor, proof of health insurance meeting State Department minimums, and evidence of English proficiency. If your degree was issued outside the United States, you will also need a certified English translation of your academic credentials before the sponsor can process your application.
