Frame your training plan around RevOps tools
Your DS-2019 training plan must document specific skills you'll develop, not just job duties. List the platforms you'll train on, such as Salesforce administration, HubSpot workflows, or BI dashboard development, so your designated sponsor can validate the learning objectives.
Distinguish Intern from Trainee eligibility early
If you're currently enrolled in a degree program, the J-1 Intern category applies. If you've already graduated, you qualify as a Trainee, which requires at least one year of relevant work or study outside the U.S. Misidentifying your category can delay your DS-2019 issuance by weeks.
Target host employers with established data infrastructure
Revenue Operations roles that involve territory modeling, quota setting, or attribution analysis require mature tech stacks. Host employers with dedicated RevOps teams are far more likely to support a structured J-1 training plan than companies where the role is ad hoc or undefined.
Search for J-1-aligned roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter U.S. companies posting Revenue Operations Analyst roles with international hiring history. Targeting employers who've hosted exchange visitors before reduces the time you spend educating HR teams about the DS-2019 process and training plan requirements.
Verify prevailing wage alignment before accepting an offer
Your host employer isn't required to file an LCA for J-1 Trainee or Intern placements the way they would for H-1B, but your compensation still needs to be reasonable. Cross-check the offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search for your role's SOC code and metro area before signing.
Confirm your host employer can sign the training plan
The host employer must designate a responsible officer or supervisor who agrees to fulfill the training obligations in your DS-2019. Get written confirmation from HR before your designated sponsor submits paperwork, since unsigned or incomplete training plans are the most common reason issuance stalls.

Find Revenue Operations Analyst JobsRevenue Operations Analyst J-1 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which J-1 program category fits a Revenue Operations Analyst role?
Most Revenue Operations Analyst placements fall under the J-1 Trainee category if you've completed your degree and have at least one year of relevant experience or post-secondary education. If you're currently enrolled in a business, economics, or data analytics program, the Intern category applies instead. The distinction matters because each category has different duration limits and eligibility requirements that your designated sponsor will assess before issuing the DS-2019.
Who actually sponsors my J-1 visa as a Revenue Operations Analyst?
Your visa sponsor is a U.S. Department of State-designated organization, not your host employer. Organizations like CIEE, Cultural Vistas, or AIPT issue the DS-2019, monitor your compliance, and sign your training plan. The company where you work in RevOps is the host employer. They pay your salary and direct your work, but they don't hold the legal sponsorship responsibility under the Exchange Visitor Program.
How do I find U.S. employers open to hosting J-1 exchange visitors in RevOps?
Migrate Mate lets you search for Revenue Operations Analyst roles at U.S. companies with international hiring activity, which narrows your list to employers already familiar with exchange visitor requirements. Targeting hosts who have worked with designated sponsors before significantly shortens the time it takes to get a training plan approved and your DS-2019 issued.
Does the J-1 Trainee category for this role carry a two-year home residency requirement?
It depends on your country of nationality, the source of your program funding, and your field of specialization. The two-year home-country physical presence requirement under INA Section 212(e) applies to some J-1 participants but not all. Your designated sponsor can assess whether you're subject to it based on your DS-2019 details, and USCIS handles any waiver applications if you become subject to it and wish to remain in the U.S.
Can I transition from J-1 Trainee status to an H-1B or other work visa after my placement?
Yes, but the two-year home residency requirement is the main hurdle. If you're subject to it and haven't obtained a waiver, you can't change status to H-1B, L-1, or certain immigrant visa categories without first fulfilling the requirement or getting a waiver approved. If you're not subject to the requirement, your host employer can petition for an H-1B or other work visa on the standard timeline. Confirm your 212(e) status with your designated sponsor before making post-placement plans.
