Children and Family Support Services (CFSS)

The East Boston Social Center’s Children and Family Support Services (CFSS) team provides direct support to families enrolled with a primary focus to help meet basic and complex needs of all people by connecting them to community resources that include health, well-being, educational, and mental health services.

About the Role

East Boston Social Centers is seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Specialist to foster social-emotional development across our Early Learning and Out-of-School Time programs. The role collaborates with teachers, staff, and families to create nurturing, trauma-informed environments for children from infancy through age 13.

The position emphasizes strengthening relationships, providing guidance, and supporting children, families, and educators with a multi-tiered approach to behavioral and social-emotional health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field (Master's preferred)
• 2–3 years of experience working with children in an early learning or school-age setting
• MassAIMH endorsement and Circle of Security (COS) training, or willingness to pursue both
• Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed practices, and behavior management strategies
• Experience collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized behavior management plans
• Conduct classroom observations and assessments to identify behavioral needs
• Build caregivers' capacity to promote healthy development and behavior management
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to promote resilience and trauma-informed practice
• Meet with families, as appropriate, to share observations and guidance on social-emotional development
• Visit all EBSC program sites weekly
• Lead staff training sessions on behavior management techniques
• Represent EBSC in our partnership with Neighborhood Villages, our grantor, supporting their program evaluation
• Maintain detailed, accurate records of interventions and progress
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to program development

This role requires standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, reaching, and lightweight to moderate lifting.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 and is based on experience and completed coursework.
