INTRODUCTION
Rockland Trust is currently seeking a Collateral Specialist II for our Loan Operations team. The Collateral team is responsible for releasing collateral attached to paid loans within established regulatory time frames as well as for continuing and terminating UCCs, maintaining the inventory of original notes, negotiable collateral, and physical loan files, and preparing partial releases and subordination agreements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position is responsible for performing various duties associated with maintaining and releasing loan documentation and collateral in accordance with department procedures and state and federal regulations.
- Prepare discharges on paid loans within regulatory guidelines. This position has a specific focus on the preparation of Commercial loan discharges where the Collateral is attached to real estate. Focus rests primarily on the commercial real estate discharges due to the complexity of the loan documentation, cross-collateralization of assets, and account relationships involved.
- Review BI paid loan report to determine which Commercial loans are tied to real estate. Communicate with the Lender to receive approval to release collateral. Release liens within required time frames to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prepare partial releases.
- Focus on process improvement/efficiency ideas.
- Document and maintain procedures for applicable functions.
- Perform additional duties as required. May involve working overtime, including Saturdays.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- High School diploma, College degree preferred. In lieu of a degree, prior work experience with loan legal documentation and title rundowns will be considered.
- Para-legal experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Registry of Deeds searches on Massachusetts Land Records sites.
- Familiarity with Registry of Motor Vehicle forms and vehicle titles. Ability to navigate the Registry of Motor Vehicles web site and electronic lien titling systems.
- Expertise with Consumer, Mortgage, Home Equity, and Commercial loan documents.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills, experience with MS Office and SharePoint preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a multi-tasking environment while meeting critical deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with a focus on providing excellent internal and external customer service.
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Strong knowledge of Commercial loan documents.
- Proficiency with the Commercial discharge process.
- Ability to communicate effectively with external attorneys on complex Commercial discharge requests.
