Entry Level Loan Officer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level loan officer job?
Start by earning your NMLS license, which most states require even for entry level positions, and pair it with any hands-on experience you have from internships, banking roles, or finance coursework. Employers at this level prioritize strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a basic grasp of credit and underwriting fundamentals. A demonstrated ability to build client relationships gives new candidates a real edge.
Which companies hire entry level loan officers?
Companies hiring entry level loan officers right now include CrossCountry Mortgage, PNC Financial Services, and Jobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of regional banks, credit unions, mortgage companies, and consumer lending firms that actively recruit and train candidates who are new to the role.
Are there remote entry level loan officer jobs?
Yes, though most entry level positions still favor on-site or hybrid arrangements. About 28% of entry level loan officer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting demand for candidates who can meet clients and collaborate with underwriting teams in person during the early stages of their career.
Are these new grad loan officer jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior loan officer roles alongside other entry level openings. A posting is new grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or practicum work in place of full-time history, or calls out a willingness to train candidates who hold the right license but have not yet closed loans independently.
Which industries hire the most entry level loan officers?
Entry Level loan officer roles concentrate in Banking & Financial Services, Staffing & Recruiting, and Construction & Real Estate, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because they depend on high volumes of consumer and commercial loan applications that entry level officers can support as they build product knowledge and client management skills.
