Maintenance Jobs in San Jose: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a maintenance job in San Jose?
The strongest opportunities in San Jose sit with commercial property management firms in Downtown and Diridon Station, apartment communities in Willow Glen and Evergreen, and facilities teams at tech campuses in North San Jose and the Alviso corridor. Candidates who hold HVAC or electrical certifications and can show hands-on experience with building automation systems stand out in this market. Applying directly through property management companies and large tech employers gives you the fastest path in.
Which companies hire maintenances in San Jose?
Companies currently hiring maintenances in San Jose include Extended Stay Hotels, LifeMoves, and EAH HOUSING, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of November 2026. San Jose's market skews heavily toward large commercial landlords, semiconductor campuses, and multifamily housing operators, all of which run ongoing maintenance departments rather than seasonal or project-based crews.
Are there remote maintenance jobs in San Jose?
Yes, though they are rare given that most maintenance work is hands-on and tied to a physical site. About 0% of maintenance openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of November 2026, and those roles tend to be maintenance coordination, scheduling, or facilities management positions rather than technician roles. On-site work remains the norm across San Jose's apartment communities, tech campuses, and commercial buildings.
How can I get a maintenance job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Jose is a porter, groundskeeper, or maintenance helper role at one of the city's large apartment complexes in neighborhoods like Berryessa or Cambrian Park, where property management companies routinely hire and train candidates on the job. Completing a basic HVAC or electrical fundamentals course at Evergreen Valley College or San Jose City College adds immediate credibility. Being available for on-call weekend shifts and demonstrating reliable transportation gives entry-level candidates a noticeable edge with local employers.
