Maintenance Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a maintenance job in Memphis?
Focus your search on Memphis's largest employer types: the city's extensive multifamily apartment market along Poplar Avenue and the East Memphis corridor, the major hospital campuses including Methodist Le Bonheur and Baptist Memorial, and the industrial and logistics facilities concentrated near the airport and along the I-55 and I-240 corridors. Candidates with HVAC, electrical, or plumbing skills have the clearest edge in Memphis's competitive market.
Which companies hire maintenances in Memphis?

Memphis's mix of large property management companies, healthcare networks, manufacturing operations, and hotel and hospitality groups creates consistent demand for maintenance workers across multiple sectors.

Yes, though remote work is rare for hands-on maintenance roles and more common for desk-based functions like maintenance coordination, scheduling, or facilities management. About 0% of maintenance openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the broader reality that most maintenance work requires an on-site presence. Roles in maintenance dispatching or software-assisted facilities oversight are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements locally.
How can I get a maintenance job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Memphis is applying for a maintenance helper or groundskeeper role with one of the city's large apartment management companies, which regularly hire entry-level workers and train on the job. Memphis's hospitality sector, including downtown hotels near Beale Street, and the city's public school and university facilities departments also offer structured entry-level positions that build hands-on skills toward full maintenance technician roles.
