- Proficiency with Amazon Seller Central, Shopify, or similar marketplace management tools
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and act on GMV, conversion rate, and seller performance data

- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, operations, or a related field
Tips for Your Marketplace Manager Job Search
Quantify your marketplace performance metrics
Recruiters scan for numbers that prove impact. Pull your actual GMV growth, seller acquisition rates, and conversion lift from past roles. Marketplace managers who lead with metrics specific to platform operations stand out against candidates who describe responsibilities without results.
Tailor your resume to each platform type
A role managing a first-party Amazon catalog differs substantially from running a multi-vendor marketplace for a B2B SaaS company. Read the job description carefully and mirror the platform language, whether that's seller enablement, catalog hygiene, or demand aggregation.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists marketplace manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a case study for your portfolio
Bring one documented example of a marketplace problem you diagnosed and solved, whether it was improving buy box performance, reducing seller churn, or launching a new category. Walk through your decision-making, not just the outcome.
Demonstrate cross-functional coordination in interviews
Hiring managers want to know you can align logistics, finance, and product teams without direct authority. Prepare two specific examples where you drove a marketplace initiative that required buy-in from teams outside your org chart.
Negotiate by anchoring to platform revenue impact
When discussing offers, connect your compensation ask to the revenue you directly influenced or the seller base you managed. Concrete platform-level impact gives you a stronger anchor than market rate comparisons alone.
Marketplace Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most marketplace managers?
The companies hiring the most marketplace managers right now include Metropolis Employee Services, Target, and Uber Freight US, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Illinois, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is especially strong at companies with large third-party seller ecosystems or multi-category retail platforms.
How many marketplace manager jobs are remote?
About 41% of marketplace manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on platform tools and data rather than in-person operations. Sub-specializations in catalog management, seller onboarding, and performance analytics tend to have the highest share of remote-eligible postings.
How do you become a marketplace manager?
Start by building hands-on experience with a major e-commerce platform, whether through an operations coordinator, catalog specialist, or account management role. Learn to read platform analytics, manage seller or vendor relationships, and run A/B tests on listings. Moving into a marketplace manager role typically requires demonstrating that you can own a category or channel end-to-end and drive measurable growth.
Can you get a marketplace manager job with little experience?
Yes, especially if you can show platform fluency and analytical ability even without a formal title. Candidates who have managed their own seller account, led an e-commerce project in a non-marketplace role, or built out a product catalog for a small brand regularly transition into entry-level marketplace manager positions. A strong portfolio case study documenting a real platform problem you solved matters more than years of experience at this level.
What does the marketplace manager interview process look like?
Most processes include an initial recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on your platform experience and analytical approach, and a take-home or live case study where you diagnose a marketplace problem and present a solution. Final rounds typically involve cross-functional stakeholders from product, logistics, or finance who assess how well you collaborate outside your direct team.
Where can I find and apply to marketplace manager jobs?
You can find and apply to marketplace manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each one that fits.
