Entry Level Math Teacher Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level math teacher job?
Start by completing your state licensure requirements and securing a student-teaching placement, since hands-on classroom experience is what most entry level hiring managers look for. A strong portfolio showing lesson plans, student engagement strategies, and any tutoring or mentorship work gives candidates a real edge. Applying to schools, districts, and tutoring organizations that explicitly welcome new graduates broadens your options considerably.
Which companies hire entry level math teachers?
Companies hiring entry level math teachers right now include IDEA Public Schools, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and Chicago Public Schools, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At the entry level, hiring typically comes from K-12 school districts, charter school networks, tutoring companies, and online learning platforms that build in onboarding support for teachers early in their careers.
Are there remote entry level math teacher jobs?
Yes, though most entry level math teacher roles are still on-site. About 2% of entry level math teacher openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in online tutoring platforms and virtual school programs. These remote roles can be a practical starting point for new grads building experience before moving into a traditional classroom position.
Are these new grad math teacher jobs?
Yes, the roles listed here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior positions. A new grad-friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience and accepts student-teaching placements, tutoring work, or a teaching portfolio in place of full-time classroom history. Look for listings that mention mentorship programs or structured onboarding, as those are designed with new educators in mind.
Which industries hire the most entry level math teachers?
Entry Level math teacher roles concentrate in Education, Non-Profit & Social Services, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive entry level hiring because they have consistent student enrollment growth, ongoing need to replace retiring educators, and in the case of ed-tech companies, rapid expansion of curriculum delivery that requires qualified instructors at every experience level.
