Job Overview

The Medical Assistant supports neurologists and advanced practice providers by performing clinical and administrative duties that ensure efficient patient care and clinic operations. The Medical Assistant serves as a key member of the healthcare team, providing excellent patient service while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and treatment by obtaining vital signs, new patient paperwork, medical histories, medication lists, PCP, and chief complaints..
• Room all provider patients expeditiously to maintain efficient daily workflow
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Administer injections and medications as authorized and within scope of practice.
• Execute all late MA duties when scheduled, including staying until the last patient appointment is completed.
• Perform routine clinical procedures, including EEGs and specimen collection.
• Complete all provider requests in a timely manner
• Coordinate timely referrals to specialists, imaging centers, and diagnostic testing facilities
• Facilitate faxes to PCPs or referring providers with appointment notes and testing results
• Obtain prior authorizations for medications, imaging studies, and procedures
• Assist in check out and scheduling follow-up appointments and diagnostic testing
• Track and communicate test results according to provider instructions.
• Facilitate communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, and external healthcare organizations.
• Manage patient Healow messages, voicemails, telephone encounters, and non-controlled prescription refill requests in a timely manner daily
• Facilitate prompt communication with providers with patient messages, critical results, controlled medication refills.
• Demonstrate flexible, high quality teamwork in managing daily tasks and tasks as requested by the office manager and providers.
• Prepare and stock examination rooms and clinical supplies.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection prevention standards

Requirements

• Medical assisting or medical office experience is preferred; clinic, hospital, or inpatient experience is a plus.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred or required as applicable to the role.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and EHR systems is helpful.
• Exposure to medical office management, ICD coding, or operating room (OR) settings is a plus.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection prevention standards.
• Follow all clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy

Pay: $23.95 - $28.84 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 per week
