JOB DESCRIPTION

Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Medical Physicist for the Radiation Physics & Safety Department at Morristown Medical Center to work 8:30am-4:30pm including on-call.

Responsibilities

Essential Function/Responsibilities

- Maintain a QA program that includes testing of diagnostic & interventional imaging devices consistent with regulatory & accreditation requirements.
- Perform acceptance testing as needed, on imaging devices ensuring State, ACR, MQSA & Joint Commission compliance.
- Perform radiation shielding calculations.
- Review & approve policies and procedures.
- Consult in imaging equipment planning.
- Monitor radiation dosimetry for personnel.
- Calculate & monitor patient dosimetry.
- Educate staff & physicians as needed, on QA programs and radiation safety principles.
- Teach Physics as part of the Radiology Resident Program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Primary coverage will be at Morristown Medical Center, with cross-coverage for other AHS facilities.
- This position will report to the Manager/Chief Physicist.
- Manage the Radiation Safety Program as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at some of the AHS facilities, ensure compliance with regulations on radioactive material use and x-ray equipment, and provide 24/7 radiation safety support during emergent situations.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

- MS in Medical Physics (or related field)

Minimum Experience

- Minimum 5 years clinical experience preferred
- Proficiency in all imaging modalities with a prominent expertise in CT
- Must be qualified or eligible as an RSO as per NRC regulations
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint applications

License/Certification

- ABR certification in Diagnostic Medical Physics or Nuclear Medical Physics or ABMP certification in Diagnostic Imaging Physics.
