The Mobile Health Unit Operations Patient Service Representative (CDL) serves as a dual-function role supporting patient access functions while ensuring the safe operation and logistical readiness of CAMcare’s Mobile Health Unit. This position is responsible for front-end patient registration, insurance verification, consent collection, and customer service, while also operating the Mobile Health Unit in compliance with all applicable motor vehicle, safety, and organizational requirements. This role supports CAMcare’s mission to deliver accessible, high-quality healthcare services to the communities of Camden and Gloucester counties, including underserved and hard-to-reach populations.
What you will do:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Service & Registration Functions
- Welcome and assist patients accessing services through the Mobile Health Unit.
- Perform patient registration, insurance verification, eligibility confirmation, and benefits review.
- Collect co-payments when applicable and complete daily reconciliation and balancing of receipts.
- Obtain and process patient consents for medical treatment and release of information in accordance with HIPAA and CAMcare policies.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and provide referrals and lab orders as directed.
- Accurately enter and maintain patient information within the electronic health record system.
- Scan, upload, and maintain patient documentation in compliance with record retention standards.
- Respond to patient inquiries and direct concerns to the appropriate supervisor or department.
Mobile Health Unit Operations (CDL-Related Duties)
- Safely operate CAMcare’s Mobile Health Unit in accordance with state motor vehicle laws, DOT regulations, CDL requirements, and organizational policies.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any safety or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Ensure the Mobile Health Unit is prepared for daily operations, including setup and breakdown at service locations.
- Coordinate arrival and departure times to support clinical schedules and community outreach events.
- Maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate and comply with all medical qualification requirements for commercial drivers.
- Maintain required licensure, certifications, and documentation related to CDL operation.
- Comply with all safety, risk management, and operational protocols associated with mobile services.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
- Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate required and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Ability to meet CAMcare’s motor vehicle and driving eligibility requirements.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a healthcare, patient access, or customer service role preferred.
- Experience with insurance verification and patient registration are preferred.

- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, staff, and community partners.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for extended periods.
- Ability to meet ongoing DOT physical and medical fitness standards.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Work is performed in both mobile clinical environments and community-based settings.
Compliance & Regulatory Requirements
- Compliance with HIPAA, HRSA, OSHA, DOT/FMCSA regulations, CDL standards, and CAMcare policies is required.
- Must successfully pass DOT medical examination and maintain current Medical Examiner’s Certificate at all times.
- Successful completion of background checks, license verification, and any required health screenings.

- Registration Accuracy Rate: 98% accuracy in patient demographic, insurance, and consent documentation.
- Insurance Verification Timeliness: Insurance eligibility verified prior to or at time of service in 95% of encounters.
- Co-Payment Collection Accuracy: Accurate collection and reconciliation of co-payments with no unresolved variances at end of shift.
- Documentation Compliance: 100% completion of required consents, releases, and scanned documentation within established timeframes.
- Patient Experience Standards: Demonstrates courteous, respectful, and professional interactions; minimal patient complaints related to registration or service flow.
Mobile Health Unit Operations KPIs (CDL-Related)
- On-Time Unit Deployment: Mobile Health Unit arrives on schedule for 95% of assigned service days and outreach events.
- Vehicle Safety & Inspection Compliance: 100% completion of required pre- and post-trip inspections with timely reporting of issues.
- Medical & Licensing Compliance: Maintains valid CDL and DOT Medical Certificate with no lapses.
- Incident-Free Operation: Zero preventable vehicle safety incidents attributable to operator error.
- Operational Readiness: Mobile unit properly set up and secured for clinical operations prior to patient arrival.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Regulatory Compliance: Adherence to HIPAA, HRSA, OSHA, FMCSA/DOT medical and driver standards, and CAMcare policies with no substantiated compliance violations.
- Attendance & Reliability: Meets scheduled work hours and mobile service commitments in alignment with departmental needs.
- Team Collaboration: Effectively coordinates with clinical staff, supervisors, and community partners to support mobile operations.
