How do I get a mental health job in Raleigh?
Raleigh's strongest hiring comes from its large health systems, community mental health centers, and the university and college sector tied to NC State and nearby campuses. Candidates who target the North Hills medical corridor and downtown nonprofit agencies tend to find the most openings. Specializations in substance use, crisis intervention, or child and adolescent services are in particularly high demand locally, and bilingual Spanish-English candidates have a consistent edge with Raleigh's growing Latinx client population.
Which companies hire mental healths in Raleigh?
Companies currently hiring mental healths in Raleigh include WakeMed Health & Hospitals, Ellie Mental Health, and Global Outreach TeleRehabilitation Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Raleigh's hiring mix includes large hospital networks, outpatient behavioral health groups, and county-funded community agencies, giving candidates options from clinical settings to community-based care.
Are there remote mental health jobs in Raleigh?
Yes, though it depends on the role, direct patient care and crisis work require in-person presence, while care coordination, utilization review, and clinical documentation roles are frequently remote. About 58% of mental health openings tied to Raleigh are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a broader shift in how payers and telehealth platforms staff their teams. Telehealth counseling positions tied to Raleigh-based practices are the most common fully remote option locally.
How can I get a mental health job in Raleigh with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Raleigh is through a mental health technician or community support specialist role at one of the area's residential treatment facilities or county behavioral health contractors. These positions typically require a bachelor's degree but not licensure, making them a practical first step. Raleigh's nonprofit community agencies and group homes also hire peer support specialists, which value lived experience alongside any academic background and often lead to case management roles.
