Mental Health Technician Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mental health technician job in Memphis?
Memphis hiring concentrates in hospital-based psychiatric units in the Medical Center district, residential treatment programs in Midtown, and community mental health centers serving neighborhoods like Frayser and Whitehaven. Candidates with crisis intervention training, CPR certification, and any hands-on behavioral health experience stand out locally. Applying directly to the large health systems and specialty behavioral health providers that anchor the Medical Center corridor gives you the strongest foothold in the Memphis market.
Which companies hire mental health technicians in Memphis?
Companies currently hiring mental health technicians in Memphis include Support Solutions, CareATC, and Shelby County, TN, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Memphis hiring is driven by a mix of large regional hospital systems, freestanding psychiatric facilities, and nonprofit community behavioral health organizations concentrated in the Midtown and Medical Center areas.
Are there remote mental health technician jobs in Memphis?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon in this role because most mental health technician positions require direct, on-site patient supervision. About 67% of mental health technician openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, and those tend to be administrative support, care coordination, or telehealth intake roles rather than direct patient care positions.
How can I get a mental health technician job in Memphis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Memphis is applying to behavioral health technician or psychiatric aide roles at residential treatment facilities and group homes, which routinely hire candidates without prior clinical experience and provide on-the-job training. Volunteering or interning with Memphis-area community mental health organizations strengthens your application, and completing a basic crisis intervention or Mental Health First Aid course signals readiness to local employers who prioritize patient safety skills over credentials.
