Nurse Supervisor Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nurse supervisor in Tennessee?
You become a nurse supervisor in Tennessee by first holding an active registered nurse license through the Tennessee Board of Nursing, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN and meeting state education requirements. Most employers expect a BSN at minimum and at least two years of clinical experience. From there, lateral moves into charge nurse or lead RN roles within Tennessee hospital systems or long-term care facilities are the most common path into formal supervision.
Which companies hire nurse supervisors in Tennessee?
Employers hiring nurse supervisors in Tennessee right now include TriStar Health, Encompass Health, and Williamson Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tennessee's large integrated health systems and long-term care networks account for the majority of postings, meaning most openings sit within organizations that hire across multiple facilities and disciplines statewide.
Which Tennessee cities have the most nurse supervisor jobs?
Nashville, Paris, and Jackson have the most nurse supervisor openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because it is home to major hospital systems and corporate health services headquarters, while Memphis and Knoxville support large regional medical centers and expanding outpatient networks that consistently need experienced supervisory nursing staff.
Are there remote nurse supervisor jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of nurse supervisor openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role typically is. The portions of the job most suited to remote work include scheduling, documentation, compliance reporting, and administrative oversight rather than direct floor supervision.
How can I get hired as a nurse supervisor in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a charge nurse role first, which large Tennessee employers like HCA Healthcare and Vanderbilt-affiliated facilities regularly fill from their own staff. Completing a nurse residency program at a Tennessee academic medical center builds the clinical depth that supervisory hiring managers look for. Earning your BSN and a specialty certification in your care area, such as med-surg or behavioral health, strengthens your candidacy before you apply for a formal supervisor title.
Where can I find and apply to nurse supervisor jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to nurse supervisor jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings across hospitals, long-term care facilities, and outpatient networks. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
