Mid Level Network Administrator Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level network administrator job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just task completion. Highlight projects where you led a network upgrade, diagnosed a complex outage, or designed a segment of the infrastructure without constant supervision. Certifications like CCNA or CompTIA Network+ reinforce your technical depth. In your application, lead with measurable outcomes, such as reduced downtime or improved throughput, rather than listing tools you have used.
Which companies hire mid level network administrators?
Companies hiring mid level network administrators right now include Jobot, Maximus, and Entarian, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from organizations large enough to have dedicated network teams but still relying on individual contributors to run day-to-day operations without heavy management layers.
Are there remote mid level network administrator jobs?
Yes, though the role remains more on-site than many IT positions due to hands-on hardware and infrastructure work. About 4% of mid level network administrator openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at enterprise employers who need occasional on-site presence for physical network tasks while permitting remote work for monitoring and configuration.
How do I move up to a mid level network administrator role?
Moving from entry level to mid level means building depth in a core area, such as routing and switching, network security, or cloud networking, while taking on projects that require independent judgment. Demonstrating that you can own a problem from diagnosis to resolution, document what you build, and explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders signals readiness for mid level responsibility. Certifications and consistent impact in your current role accelerate that progression.
Which industries hire the most mid level network administrators?
Mid Level network administrator roles concentrate in Education, Government & Public Sector, and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate large, distributed networks that require experienced administrators who can maintain uptime, enforce security policies, and manage infrastructure changes without requiring senior-level oversight on every task.
