The Center for Perioperative Optimization (CPO), located in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, evaluates elective surgery patients prior to their procedure. The APP practices within the guidelines of the unit department, and institution and in accordance with the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Physician Written Agreement required and approved by the State of Maryland.
Shifts: 10 hour Day shifts Monday – Friday; no weekends.
- Orientation period requires five days/week; 8 hours for training with goal of transitioning to four 10-hour days once proficiency is developed. Orientation is usually around 6 weeks.
Qualifications:
- MSN/DNP from an accredited nursing program required.
- Active Maryland or Compact RN and CRNP license are required.
- Current certifications as an Adult Gerontology or Family Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland or letter from MBON approving practice as a Nurse Practitioner Graduate while awaiting completing of JHH affiliate credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Successful completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program.
- BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted.
- The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of acute care RN work experience; ICU or advanced practice in cardiology beneficial.
***You will be ordering or referring items or services for Medicare beneficiaries, and you do not already have an enrollment record in the Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS), you will need to submit an enrollment application to Medicare to be eligible for employment.

Salary Range: Minimum 58.03/hour - Maximum 89.94/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
