ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Nocturnist Hospitalist – Pediatric Critical Care Medicine (PICU)
Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
Join a high-performing, collaborative Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team where your expertise will make a life-saving difference every night.
We are seeking a dedicated Nocturnist Hospitalist to provide overnight coverage in our dynamic PICU. This role is ideal for a clinician who thrives in autonomous, high-acuity environments and values focused clinical excellence without the additional demands of research, teaching, or administrative responsibilities.
Schedule & Structure
- 10 to 12 night shifts per month (1700 to 0700)
- Occasional weekend day coverage may substitute for select nights
- Structured, face-to-face handoffs to ensure seamless continuity of care
This schedule offers concentrated clinical impact with meaningful time off between shifts.
What You’ll Do
As a Nocturnist Hospitalist, you will serve as a critical leader in overnight patient care for our most vulnerable pediatric patients. You will:
- Deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care in a fast-paced PICU environment
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans
- Manage acute and chronic critical illness
- Interpret diagnostic studies and manage advanced therapies
- Prescribe and adjust medications with thoughtful risk assessment
- Provide anticipatory guidance to families and caregivers
- Maintain thorough, timely EMR documentation
This role is 100% clinically focused, allowing you to concentrate fully on patient care excellence.

Working Environment
This role involves active clinical engagement throughout each shift, including standing, walking, and performing fine motor clinical procedures. The physical demands are typical of an inpatient hospital environment and require full mobility and stamina appropriate for extended clinical coverage.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

You are a pediatric-trained Advanced Practice Provider who:
- Has an active Oregon Medical License
- Has experience caring for pediatric patients in an intensive care setting
- Demonstrates sound clinical judgment under pressure
- Communicates clearly and compassionately with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Thrives in environments that require prioritization and decisive action
- Is comfortable managing multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously
- Is proficient with electronic medical records and clinical systems
