Nursing Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a nursing job in Boston?
Boston's nursing market centers on its world-class academic medical systems, community health centers serving diverse neighborhoods, and a growing network of specialty and ambulatory care sites. Candidates with experience in critical care, oncology, or med-surg tend to move fastest. Tailoring your application to a specific unit type and demonstrating familiarity with Boston's patient population mix gives you a clear edge over generic applicants.
Which companies hire nursings in Boston?
Boston nursing roles are posted by Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Northeastern University and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boston's employer base ranges from large academic medical centers anchored in Longwood to federally qualified health centers, rehabilitation facilities, and specialty ambulatory practices spread across the city's neighborhoods.
Are there remote nursing jobs in Boston?
Yes, though most nursing roles in Boston require on-site patient care, making fully remote positions rare. About 5% of nursing openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, mostly concentrated in case management, utilization review, and telehealth triage. Hybrid arrangements are most common among care coordination and insurance-adjacent roles at Boston's larger health systems.
How can I get a nursing job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boston is through a new-graduate residency or nurse externship program, which several of the city's large academic medical centers and community hospitals run on a rolling basis. Entry-level candidates often start in med-surg, long-term care facilities in neighborhoods like Jamaica Plain or Dorchester, or home health agencies, then lateral into specialty units. Completing clinical rotations at a Boston facility is one of the strongest differentiators for new grads applying locally.
Which industries hire the most nursings in Boston?
Most nursing openings in Boston sit in Healthcare & Medical Services and Education, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boston's concentration of research hospitals, community health centers, and specialty ambulatory networks drives consistent hiring across those sectors, with academic medical institutions in the Longwood corridor accounting for a significant share of full-time postings throughout the year.
