Nursing Jobs in Memphis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a nursing job in Memphis?
The strongest hiring in Memphis runs through its dense Medical Center District, home to major academic medical centers, Level I trauma care, and specialty hospitals. Candidates with acute care, ICU, or telemetry experience move fastest in this market. Long-term care facilities across Shelby County and outpatient clinics in East Memphis and Germantown also hire consistently. A compact license and relevant specialty certification give applicants a clear edge locally.
Which companies hire nursings in Memphis?
Employers hiring nursings in Memphis right now include Baptist Memorial Health Care, HiredFirst, and Signature HealthCARE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis's market is anchored by large academic health systems and regional hospital networks, alongside a growing number of ambulatory surgery centers and specialty practices throughout Shelby County.
Are there remote nursing jobs in Memphis?
Yes, but remote work is limited in nursing because most roles require direct patient care. About 0% of nursing openings tied to Memphis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader industry norms. The roles most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements in Memphis are utilization review, case management, triage nursing, and insurance coding positions with health plans and managed care organizations.
How can I get a nursing job in Memphis with little or no experience?
New graduates find the most realistic entry point through new-grad residency programs offered by Memphis's larger hospital systems, which are structured specifically to onboard and develop nurses without prior acute care experience. Skilled nursing facilities and home health agencies across Shelby County also hire entry-level nurses with less competition than hospital units. Starting in medical-surgical or long-term care, then building toward a specialty unit, is the most common path locally.
Which industries hire the most nursings in Memphis?
Most nursing openings in Memphis sit in Healthcare & Medical Services and Education, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Memphis's role as a regional medical hub for the Mid-South drives outsized demand, with a high concentration of trauma, transplant, and oncology services that require specialized nursing staff year-round.
