We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Medical-Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on medical-surgical and telemetry units, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry data accurately to detect arrhythmias or other cardiac issues promptly.
- Administer medications and treatments following established protocols while ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, technicians, and case managers to coordinate effective patient care and discharge planning.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate documentation of patient information and medical records management.
- Perform procedures such as IV insertion, suturing, catheterization, tube feeding management, and aseptic techniques with precision.
- Conduct physical examinations and vital signs assessments regularly to monitor patient progress and respond swiftly to acute changes or emergencies.
- Engage in infection control practices and maintain sterile environments during procedures to uphold safety standards across diverse clinical settings.
- Support patients with complex needs including those requiring dialysis, hospice & palliative care, trauma medicine, or behavioral health interventions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in critical care procedures such as ventilator management, airway management, and acute pain management while maintaining high levels of competency in emergency response protocols.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurse within hospital or outpatient settings; prior ICU or Level I/II trauma center experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in telemetry monitoring systems with the ability to interpret complex cardiac rhythms using ICD coding standards (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Strong background in critical care environments including emergency medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric ICU), or neonatal resuscitation procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR platforms such as Cerner or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and compliance with NCQA standards.
- Experience managing diverse patient populations including geriatrics in long-term care or assisted living facilities; knowledge of dementia & Alzheimer’s care is advantageous.
- Competency in performing diagnostic evaluations like laboratory testing (phlebotomy), specimen collection/processing, sonography, or gastroscopy when applicable.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities enhances adaptability for travel assignments.
