Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma hospital, requiring at least 3 years of OR experience, circulator skills, and a weekend-heavy schedule.
Details
- Work in a short-term acute care hospital Operating Room with 21 rooms and an average daily census of 70–80 patients
- OR Core positions cover a broad range of specialties including General, Plastics, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, Colorectal, and Robotics — CV and Transplant are excluded
- Schedule is a weekend-focused position: every Saturday and Sunday plus one rotating weekday each week, on day shift (7:00–19:30, 3x12-hour shifts)
- On-call is required, averaging approximately 6 call shifts per 6-week period (may vary)
- Holiday coverage is required; candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Floating is required within scope to meet facility needs, including to nearby affiliate hospitals
- Charting is done in Cerner; experience is required
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Free parking is available
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted) required at time of consideration
- Minimum 3 years of OR RN experience required
- Level I Trauma experience is required; candidates with at least 1 year of Level I Trauma experience may be considered with 2+ total years of OR experience
- Circulator experience is required; scrub experience is preferred
- Must be a well-rounded OR RN competent across most specialties (CV and Transplant excepted)
- Cerner charting experience is required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited program required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates (Indiana residents) are accepted but at a reduced pay package for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month gap before working as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within the IU Health system must take a mandatory consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state (Indiana) residents require a 180-day break
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
