Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for experienced Hydrogen Operations Technician to join its Louisiana Operations team at our Baton Rouge, LA site.
The positions will support our Steam Methane Reformer in Baton Rouge that will supply hydrogen to the APCI Hydrogen pipeline. The hydrogen pipeline distributes to various customers along the Mississippi River corridor via a pipeline distribution system.

Responsibilities:
- Day to Day control and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen, which includes operating and controlling the following: Furnaces, Compressors, DCS monitoring systems, Rotating Equipment, Catalyst Reactors, Water Treatment Systems (Boiler and Cooling Water Systems), operated manual Valves, and Pressure Swing Adsorption skid
- Troubleshoot, respond to operating conditions, respond to customer order rates, and process optimization
- Complete operator rounds, implement minor preventative maintenance, and support mechanical and instrumentation maintenance and projects
- Issue permit work in the field and monitor contract partners
- Participate in the basic safety process as a key member of the Site Safety committee and sharing responsibility for the site’s overall safety performance
- Interact with staff personnel to maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs, instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting
- Follow Operating procedures
- Support other facilities in the area as required
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- A Degree in Process Technology or equivalent experience is preferred
- Five years of operations experience in the industry is preferred
- This is a safety sensitive position
- Must be a self-motivated individual and comfortable working independently
- Strong mechanical competence and/or military background
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends and accept 24-hour on-call duties on a rotating basis
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Great teammate who is flexible and has a positive attitude
Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of handling confined space entry, ascending ladders and steps, and lifting at least 50 lbs
- Will be exposed to high noise levels
- Be capable of fulfilling call-in obligations when necessary
- Elevated work required
