Field Service Technician Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field service technician in Louisiana?
Most field service technician roles in Louisiana start with a technical degree or certificate from a Louisiana community college or technical college, such as those in the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. Employers in the petrochemical and industrial sectors often require completion of an apprenticeship or on-the-job training program. Certifications relevant to your specialty, such as EPA Section 608 for HVAC technicians or NCCER credentials for instrumentation, strengthen your candidacy considerably.
Which companies hire field service technicians in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring field service technicians in Louisiana include Kenworth Louisiana, Bear Communications, and Kemco Facilities Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Louisiana's heavy concentration of refining, petrochemical, and utility infrastructure means field service demand here is driven largely by industrial and energy sector employers.
Which Louisiana cities have the most field service technician jobs?
Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and Broussard have the most field service technician openings in Louisiana. Baton Rouge and the Lake Charles area lead because of their dense petrochemical plant and refinery presence, while New Orleans generates demand through its commercial facilities, healthcare systems, and port infrastructure, making each city's openings reflect a distinct mix of industries.
Are there remote field service technician jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Field service technician work is fundamentally hands-on and site-dependent, so most roles require physical presence at client locations. About 20% of field service technician openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve technical support, documentation, or remote diagnostics rather than direct equipment servicing.
How can I get hired as a field service technician in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a technical program through the Louisiana Community and Technical College System, which feeds directly into apprenticeships and entry-level positions at industrial employers across the state. Large petrochemical and utility companies in Louisiana commonly hire technician trainees or junior field technicians from these programs. Candidates moving from adjacent roles like maintenance mechanic, instrumentation helper, or electrical apprentice find the transition straightforward, and earning an NCCER or EPA Section 608 credential before applying gives an immediate edge.
Where can I find and apply to field service technician jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to field service technician jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
