Field Service Technician Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field service technician in Georgia?
Most field service technician roles in Georgia require at minimum a technical diploma or associate degree from a program accredited through the Technical College System of Georgia, which operates campuses across the state offering electromechanical, HVAC, and industrial systems programs. Specialty areas such as elevator servicing require licensure through the Georgia State Board of Architects and Engineers, while low-voltage work may require a Low Voltage Contractor license issued by the Georgia Secretary of State. Employer-sponsored factory certifications on specific equipment are common hiring expectations as well.
Which companies hire field service technicians in Georgia?
Employers hiring field service technicians in Georgia right now include Yancey Bros, Crown Equipment, and Morris Group, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's concentration of manufacturing plants, logistics hubs, and healthcare systems means demand is spread across a wide range of industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
Which Georgia cities have the most field service technician jobs?
Atlanta, Macon, and Georgia have the most field service technician openings in Georgia. Atlanta's density of corporate headquarters, data centers, and medical facilities drives the largest share of postings, while Savannah's port-adjacent manufacturing corridor and Augusta's healthcare and defense presence create strong secondary markets that go well beyond what city population alone would suggest.
Are there remote field service technician jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. By nature, field service technician work is hands-on and site-dependent, so fully remote roles are the exception rather than the rule. About 11% of field service technician openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve remote diagnostics, technical support, or service coordination rather than physical equipment maintenance.
How can I get hired as a field service technician in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a Technical College System of Georgia program and targeting employers that hire graduates directly into apprentice or associate technician roles. Companies such as Siemens and Honeywell run structured onboarding tracks for candidates without prior field experience. Adjacent roles such as warehouse equipment operator, biomedical equipment aide, or IT field support provide a practical bridge. Earning an EPA Section 608 certification or a CompTIA A+ credential before applying gives candidates a concrete edge even without a long work history.
Where can I find and apply to field service technician jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to field service technician jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings updated in real time. Search for roles that match your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
