Operations Manager Jobs in Grand Rapids: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations manager job in Grand Rapids?
The clearest path is targeting Grand Rapids's dominant hiring sectors: advanced manufacturing along the M-6 corridor, health systems concentrated on the Medical Mile, and the distribution and logistics operations clustered in Kentwood and Wyoming. Candidates who can demonstrate process improvement experience, familiarity with lean or continuous improvement methods, and a history of managing cross-functional teams stand out. Local employer types range from Tier 1 auto suppliers to regional hospital networks and third-party logistics firms.
Which companies hire operations managers in Grand Rapids?
Grand Rapids operations manager roles are posted by Veo, tesa, and Walgreens and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market is anchored by a mix of large manufacturers, regional health networks, and distribution-focused employers, many with multiple facilities across the greater Kent County area.
Are there remote operations manager jobs in Grand Rapids?
Yes, though operations manager roles are more hands-on than most, so full remote is less common than in purely analytical fields. About 30% of operations manager openings tied to Grand Rapids are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with flexibility most common in supply chain analytics, vendor management, and administrative operations rather than plant floor or facilities-based roles.
How can I get a operations manager job in Grand Rapids with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a team lead or shift supervisor role with one of Grand Rapids's large manufacturers or distribution centers in the Kentwood and Wyoming industrial zones, where internal promotion into operations management is a common path. Grand Rapids Community College workforce programs also feed local manufacturing and logistics employers. Familiarity with ERP systems and lean principles gives entry-level candidates a concrete edge when competing for coordinator or assistant operations roles.
Which industries hire the most operations managers in Grand Rapids?
Most operations manager openings in Grand Rapids sit in Retail, Chemicals & Materials, and Transportation & Logistics, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Grand Rapids's deep roots in office furniture manufacturing, its growing Medical Mile health cluster, and its position as a regional distribution hub together make these sectors the dominant sources of local operations management demand.
