JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Plans, organizes, manages, and controls production functions of the plant to produce quality products on the most profitable, safe, and efficient basis at competitive costs while promoting the highest priority for team member safety, engagement, and good housekeeping practices.

Plant Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Displays laser focus efforts for personal and company achievement of “Driving Forward” Behaviors
- Conducts plant inspections to ensure safe work practices by visual observations, awareness, personal guidance and if necessary, corrective action to ensure required procedures and practices are implemented and followed to prevent accidents and minimize workers compensation costs and improve plant profitability; responsible for compliance to HSE&E and OSHA standards
- Manage and lead production operations through thorough knowledge of all production processes; continual awareness of customer requirements, work schedules and quality levels; the staffing required to meet these schedules, ratio of indirect to direct labor, overall cost of doing business with a mind toward profit and loss, to produce parts on schedule; ensuring that quality is maintained, and costs are held to a minimum
- Analyze and determine production material, equipment and manning requirements by studying daily operating results, through daily meetings and contact with various department heads; to determine how to overcome production problems and follow-up to ascertain that problems have been corrected or to determine the next best course of action; to champion close cooperation between production and other departments
- Develop and maintain standardized work procedures for manufacturing operations. Enforce the implementation and utilization of these procedures
- Direct, assist, lead, train, motivate, and manage all manufacturing supervisors and superintendents in the production departments in the performance of their assigned functions
- Keeps all plant staff functions thoroughly informed of production changes which can impact compliance
- Recommend and implement approved changes to manning structure
- Responsible for the timely performance measurable evaluations of subordinates. These include, but are not limited to, scrap, machine utilization, line inhibits, customer returns, turnover, absenteeism, safety, housekeeping, standardized work, payroll accuracy, etc. Recommend solutions, action plans, and conflict resolution to the staff as needed during production operations
- Responsible for identification, implementation and verification of continuous improvement opportunities
- Responsible for the implementation and compliance with shop floor standards such as BOS, 5S, all Policies and Procedures, and Employee Relations Activities
- Responsible for overall results of production operations
- Develop staff to create adequate succession planning throughout production departments
- Assign tasks to direct reports as needed to ensure KPI goals and Customer Quality Expectations are met
- Coordinate departmental support/focus (Quality, Purchasing, Operations, etc.) as required to ensure customer expectations are exceeded
- Displays a demeanor and leadership style that is consistent with the Company’s values and management philosophy. Ensures safeguard of company property, information, data, and equipment
- Jointly establishes individual objectives through analysis of, and familiarity with, production job functions. This includes formal job review and feedback, the identification of areas of success and areas requiring improvement, with the objective of ensuring the availability of qualified leadership staffing to meet the organization’s present and future needs and to ensure consistently high utilization of individual skills and abilities
- Responsible for the department KPI and related reporting including scrap, machine utilization, line inhibits, customer returns, turnover, absenteeism, safety, housekeeping, standardized work, payroll accuracy, etc.
- Understanding and participating in HSE&E practices, activities, and training as required
- Reporting accidents, occupational illnesses, and HSE&E emergencies as applicable
- Informing appropriate personnel of known HSE&E conditions, which could adversely affect team members, assets, or the public

- Other duties as assigned
- Complete all required and applicable training required by Adient and its customers
- Comply with all BOS, ISO/TS-1649 Customer Specific Requirements. Reference the BOS Responsibilities matrix for all requirements related to this job

EHS Requirements:
- Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental Standards and participate in all required training

- Assist plant in achieving safety goals; as well as, achieving and maintaining AMS objectives
- Participate in EHS activities and/or committees, including but not limited to, ergonomics assessments, safety Kaizen events, safety audits, safety problem solving, and safety observation/feedback events
Education / Experience / Skills:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
- A minimum of six years of equivalent managerial experience, affording an excellent knowledge of manufacturing techniques
- Must possess the ability to plan and organize, delegate authority and responsibility, follow-up, motivate and control subordinate personnel to obtain optimum performance results
