Production Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production manager in New York?
Most production managers in New York enter the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in operations, engineering, or business and several years of floor or project experience. New York does not require a state-issued license for most production manager positions, but employers in regulated industries such as food processing often expect certifications like HACCP or ServSafe. Building experience in a coordinator or shift supervisor role at a New York manufacturing or media company is the most direct path.
Which companies hire production managers in New York?
Employers hiring production managers in New York right now include Centric Brands, Foot Locker, and Louis Vuitton, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's mix of large food and beverage manufacturers, consumer goods companies, and media production houses means openings appear consistently across the state, not just in New York City.
Which New York cities have the most production manager jobs?
New York, Albany, and Beacon have the most production manager openings in New York. New York City dominates due to its concentration of media, fashion, and consumer goods companies, while Buffalo and Rochester anchor the state's traditional manufacturing base, with large food processing and industrial employers driving steady demand in those metro areas.
Are there remote production manager jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Production management is inherently an on-site role, as overseeing manufacturing lines, coordinating crews, and managing physical output requires a floor presence. About 9% of production manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be in post-production, media scheduling, or project coordination functions rather than traditional plant management.
How can I get hired as a production manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an associate or coordinator role at a New York manufacturer or production house and moving up from there. Companies like PepsiCo and Estée Lauder run structured operations training programs in New York that place candidates without direct management experience into supervised production roles. Starting as a production coordinator, shift lead, or quality control associate at a food processing or consumer goods facility gives you the hands-on exposure New York employers expect before promoting into management.
Where can I find and apply to production manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to production manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
