How do I get a production manager job in New York?
The strongest path into production management in New York is through the city's dominant industries: media and entertainment, fashion, consumer goods, and advertising. Jobs concentrate at studios, production houses, and brand headquarters in Midtown, SoHo, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Candidates who stand out typically have hands-on floor or set experience, familiarity with union workflows, and a network built through New York's dense freelance production community.
Which companies hire production managers in New York?

New York's employer mix skews toward media conglomerates, fashion labels, food manufacturers, and advertising agencies, many of which maintain large in-house production teams.
Are there remote production manager jobs in New York?
Yes, though only for certain types of work. Production management is largely on-site for roles tied to physical manufacturing, film sets, or live events, while project coordination and post-production oversight can run remotely. About 5% of production manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and that share is highest among advertising and digital content roles based in Midtown and lower Manhattan offices.
How can I get a production manager job in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in New York is starting as a production coordinator or assistant producer at a mid-size agency, studio, or consumer brand, then moving up once you have documented project ownership. New York's advertising agencies and fashion brands hire heavily at the coordinator level and often promote from within.
