Logistics Coordinator Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a logistics coordinator in New York?
Most logistics coordinator roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field, though substantial warehouse or freight experience can substitute for some employers. New York does not issue a state license specific to logistics coordinators, but employers in the metro area strongly prefer candidates who hold a Certified Logistics Associate or Certified Logistics Technician credential from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council. Familiarity with customs processes at the Port of New York and New Jersey is a meaningful differentiator.
How much do logistics coordinators make in New York?
Logistics coordinators in New York earn a median of about $60,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $40,590 for the lowest 10% to over $82,820 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire logistics coordinators in New York?
Employers hiring logistics coordinators in New York right now include Expeditors International Of Washington, PepsiCo, and Upstate Niagara Cooperative, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's role as a major global trade gateway means freight forwarders, international shipping lines, and large retail distribution networks all maintain consistent hiring activity throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most logistics coordinator jobs?
The cities with the most logistics coordinator openings in New York are New York, Bohemia, and Latham. New York City dominates hiring because of its concentration of corporate headquarters, freight operations tied to JFK and Port Newark, and a dense retail and e-commerce fulfillment network, while secondary markets reflect the large distribution centers and manufacturing facilities anchoring those local economies.
Are there remote logistics coordinator jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Logistics coordinator work is largely hands-on, requiring coordination with warehouses, carriers, and docks, so most New York openings are on-site or require regular facility presence. About 7% of logistics coordinator openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. The parts of the role most suited to remote work are vendor communication, documentation review, and shipment tracking.
How can I get hired as a logistics coordinator in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a logistics or operations assistant, shipping clerk, or warehouse associate at a large New York distribution center, then moving into coordination once you know the systems. Amazon's operations facilities in the Bronx and Staten Island, as well as XPO Logistics and FedEx fulfillment sites in the metro area, regularly bring on entry-level staff who transition into coordinator roles. Earning a Certified Logistics Associate credential demonstrates initiative and gives candidates without a degree a concrete qualification that New York employers recognize.
