Operations Project Manager Jobs in Chicago: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a operations project manager job in Chicago?
The strongest path into Chicago's operations project manager market is through the sectors that drive the most hiring: logistics and supply chain, healthcare systems, financial services, and manufacturing. Concentrating your search in the Loop, Fulton Market, and the Near North Side puts you closest to where these roles cluster. Candidates with PMP certification, Lean or Six Sigma credentials, and hands-on experience managing cross-functional teams stand out in Chicago's competitive applicant pool.
Which companies hire operations project managers in Chicago?
Companies currently hiring operations project managers in Chicago include Rush University Medical Center, Amazon, and Google, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's hiring mix skews toward large enterprise employers in healthcare, distribution, and financial services, alongside a growing set of tech-forward operations teams in the Fulton Market corridor.
Are there remote operations project manager jobs in Chicago?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role: operations project managers in logistics, facilities, and manufacturing tend to require on-site presence, while those supporting business operations, IT, or process improvement are more often remote-eligible. About 21% of operations project manager openings tied to Chicago are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Process improvement and enterprise systems roles based in Chicago-area corporate headquarters are where remote arrangements show up most consistently.
How can I get a operations project manager job in Chicago with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Chicago is moving into an operations coordinator or project coordinator role at a mid-size logistics, healthcare, or manufacturing company, then building toward project ownership. Chicago's large hospital systems, distribution hubs along the I-55 and I-90 corridors, and corporate services teams in the Loop regularly hire for coordinator-level roles that lead directly to project management responsibilities. A Lean or Six Sigma green belt certificate adds credibility when your project experience is still limited.
Which industries hire the most operations project managers in Chicago?
Most operations project manager openings in Chicago sit in Technology & Software, Banking & Financial Services, and Healthcare & Medical Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Chicago's role as a national logistics hub, combined with its concentration of large hospital networks and financial services headquarters, makes those sectors the dominant and most consistent sources of local demand for this role.
