Skyline Exteriors is an outdoor living design-build company on the Chicago North Shore, and we are in the middle of a major growth push. We design and build the backyards families actually live in — outdoor kitchens, pergolas, custom hardscapes, full backyard transformations — and demand is outpacing our capacity. That’s where you come in.

The Project Manager we hire right now is not filling a slot. You’re getting in early at a company that’s scaling fast, with a real, visible path to Senior PM and then Production Manager as we add crews. We promote from within, because as we grow we need leaders — and we’d rather build them than go find them. Your ceiling here is set by your drive, not by a pay band or a line of people ahead of you.

We also run a tight ship. You won’t be fighting the office to get materials on site, chasing paperwork, or working around chaos. We give our PMs modern software, a strong backend team, and clear standards — so you can do what you’re actually good at: run great builds and lead crews well. WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Project Manager, you own the build. From the moment a signed project is handed to you through the final walkthrough, you make sure it gets built to Skyline’s standard — on time, on budget, and to a client experience that earns us referrals. You turn a great design into a great finished space.

Your day to day:

• Run your active projects — schedule the work, coordinate the crews, and keep every job moving on timeline.
• Lead and direct crew leads and crews on site, making sure the work is done right, safely, and to spec.
• Own the project schedule — sequencing trades, materials, and inspections so nothing stalls the build.
• Manage materials — confirm what’s needed and when, and make sure it’s on site before the crew is.
• Walk your job sites regularly to check quality, progress, and safety, and catch issues before they become problems.
• Communicate proactively — keep the office, the account manager, and the client informed on where every job stands.
• Track project costs against budget and flag anything trending over, so we protect the margin on every job.
• Manage change orders cleanly — document, price, and get approval before extra work begins.
• Own the closeout — punch list, final walkthrough, and handing the client a finished space they love.

What you own: You’ll be measured on the things that matter — projects delivered on time, projects delivered on budget, build quality, and client satisfaction. We give you the tools and the standards; you own the result.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This is more about drive and organization than a perfect resume. Here’s who thrives here.

Must-haves:

• 2+ years managing or coordinating construction, landscape, hardscape, or design-build projects — or a strong job-site background with the hunger to step into management.
• Genuinely organized — you can juggle multiple projects, timelines, and crews without dropping details.
• A natural leader on a job site — crews respect you, and you direct the work firmly and fairly.
• A strong communicator — clear with crews, professional with clients, proactive with the office.
• Comfortable with technology — we run on modern software, and you’re willing to learn and use the tools.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites across the North Shore and surrounding areas.
• Hungry. You want to grow, you take ownership, and you treat the company’s success like your own.

Nice-to-haves (not required):

• Direct experience in outdoor living, hardscape, landscape, or exterior design-build.
• Experience reading plans, estimates, and construction drawings.
• Familiarity with project-management software (we’ll train the right person).
• A background that includes hands-on field work — we respect people who’ve done the work themselves.

• Project Manager — Where you start. Own your jobs, deliver on time and on budget, build your track record.
• Senior Project Manager — Take on larger, more complex builds and more of them. Mentor newer PMs. Higher comp.
• Production Manager — Lead all the PMs and crews. Own production capacity and quality across the company. A true leadership seat.
• Operations leadership — For the right person, a path toward helping run the company as we keep scaling.

This is a real ladder, not a nice idea. As we add crews to meet demand, we need leaders to run them — and the PM who performs is first in line. Your trajectory here is limited by your drive, not by a ceiling.

• Base salary of $58,000–$80,000, based on experience.
