Now Brewing – optimization lead! #tobeapartner
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.
Build the systems, insights, and capabilities that power the future of our supply chain. This role sits at the intersection of sourcing, supply chain strategy, planning, technology, and analytics. Play a critical role in shaping how our sourcing organization operates, designing scalable solutions, and delivering predictive and proactive insights that enable better, faster decisions across the business. Your work will improve visibility, reduce friction, and enable smarter decisions—at scale.
YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead planning technology evolution by translating business needs into system capabilities, guiding implementations, driving adoption, and partnering with technology teams to ensure tools enable planners effectively.
- Drive continuous improvement and standardization by identifying enhancement opportunities, delivering prioritized initiatives, and strengthening consistent sourcing processes and best practices across teams.
- Advance reporting and insights by building sustainable KPI frameworks, proactive alerts, and trusted analytics that improve visibility, decision making, and sourcing/supply chain performance.

- Reporting & BI Tools – experience designing and maintaining dashboards and reports (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent)
- Data Analysis & Quality Management – identifying data issues, root causes, and working with partners to improve data integrity
- 4 year college degree.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding OPT Sponsorship in Supply Chain Optimization
Target employers with established supply chain operations
Large manufacturers, retailers, and logistics companies like Amazon, Walmart, and Procter and Gamble routinely hire supply chain analysts and have HR infrastructure to handle OPT work authorization without treating it as an unusual request.
Confirm your STEM OPT eligibility before applying
Supply chain optimization roles often qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension if your degree is in industrial engineering, operations research, or systems engineering. Verify your program's CIP code with your DSO before starting your job search.
Lead with quantified process improvements in your resume
Employers hiring for optimization roles want evidence of measurable impact. Frame your experience around specific outcomes: reduced lead times, improved forecast accuracy, or inventory cost reductions. Numbers make your application stand out and justify sponsorship investment.
Address OPT timing proactively with hiring managers
Supply chain hiring cycles can run three to six months. Apply early and be transparent about your OPT start date and expiration. Employers planning headcount appreciate knowing your authorization window so they can align onboarding timelines accordingly.
Highlight proficiency in tools employers actually use
SAP, Oracle SCM, Python, SQL, and Tableau appear consistently in supply chain optimization job descriptions. Demonstrating hands-on experience with these tools signals immediate contribution, which makes sponsorship a more straightforward decision for hiring managers.
Pursue roles with an analytical or engineering classification
Job titles framed as supply chain analyst, operations research analyst, or industrial engineer carry clearer STEM designation than generalist titles. This classification matters for your OPT STEM extension application and for future H-1B visa specialty occupation eligibility.
Supply Chain Optimization OPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Do supply chain optimization jobs qualify for the STEM OPT extension?
Many supply chain optimization roles qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, but it depends on your degree's CIP code, not just the job title. Degrees in industrial engineering, operations research, systems engineering, and supply chain management under an STEM-designated program are typically eligible. Confirm with your DSO and verify the employer meets the E-Verify requirement before accepting an offer.
How do I find supply chain optimization employers that sponsor OPT students?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for F-1 OPT students and filters supply chain jobs by sponsorship willingness, so you're not wasting time applying to roles where authorization is a dealbreaker. Large employers in manufacturing, retail, and logistics are the most consistent sponsors because they have dedicated HR teams familiar with OPT and H-1B processes.
Can I work in supply chain optimization on OPT if my degree is in business analytics?
Yes, if your role involves quantitative modeling, demand forecasting, or data-driven process improvement and your business analytics program is STEM-designated. The key is that your job duties must relate directly to your field of study. Roles heavy on procurement strategy or vendor management without an analytical core may be harder to justify as STEM-eligible.
What happens to my OPT authorization if my supply chain role changes significantly after I start?
Your OPT is tied to employment in a job directly related to your major field of study. If your role shifts substantially, such as moving from data modeling to general project coordination, that change could affect your authorization. Report any material job changes to your DSO promptly and document how the new responsibilities still align with your degree program.
Is supply chain optimization considered a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Generally yes, when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as industrial engineering, supply chain management, or operations research. Roles framed around quantitative analysis, systems optimization, or engineering-level problem solving have a stronger specialty occupation argument than generalist supply chain coordinator positions, which matters when your employer eventually files an H-1B petition.
