Paralegal Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a paralegal job in Los Angeles?
The strongest hiring activity in Los Angeles is in entertainment and media law firms in Century City and Burbank, large corporate practices Downtown, and real estate and land use firms serving the region's active property market. Candidates who stand out typically combine a paralegal certificate with experience in a high-volume practice area like litigation or contracts. Networking through the Los Angeles Paralegal Association also opens doors that job boards alone won't.
Which companies hire paralegals in Los Angeles?
Employers hiring paralegals in Los Angeles right now include Barnes & Thornburg LLP, Morgan & Morgan, and Kirkland & Ellis, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles draws a broad mix of large AmLaw 100 firms, in-house legal departments at entertainment studios and tech companies, and boutique litigation shops serving clients across Southern California.
Are there remote paralegal jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the practice area. About 51% of paralegal openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with fully remote roles more common in transactional, contracts, and document review work. Litigation paralegals handling court filings, deposition prep, or in-person hearings in Los Angeles courts are typically required to work on-site.
How can I get a paralegal job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Los Angeles is landing a legal assistant or file clerk role at a mid-size litigation firm Downtown or in the San Fernando Valley, then transitioning internally once you have court filing and case management experience. Los Angeles-area community colleges and Cal State campuses offer paralegal certificate programs that local boutique firms actively recruit from. Entry-level document review contracts, common in the city's large discovery-heavy practices, are another way to build a resume quickly.
Which industries hire the most paralegals in Los Angeles?
Most paralegal openings in Los Angeles sit in Law & Legal Services, Consulting & Professional Services, and Manufacturing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Los Angeles's outsized entertainment industry, dense concentration of corporate headquarters, and one of the busiest court systems in the country combine to sustain consistent demand across those sectors.
