Pediatric Physical Therapist Jobs in Minneapolis: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a pediatric physical therapist job in Minneapolis?
The strongest hiring happens through children's hospitals, multi-specialty pediatric outpatient clinics, and Minneapolis Public Schools' special education programs, with additional demand from early intervention agencies serving the metro's large East African and Somali communities. Candidates with NDT certification or experience in aquatic therapy stand out locally. Targeting the Phillips, Seward, and University neighborhoods, plus the inner-ring suburbs where pediatric clinics cluster, is the most direct path into Minneapolis's market.
Which companies hire pediatric physical therapists in Minneapolis?
Minneapolis pediatric physical therapist roles are posted by Fairview Health Services, University of Minnesota, and University of Minnesota Physicians and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The local market includes large academic medical systems, freestanding pediatric therapy groups, and school district contractors that serve Minneapolis and surrounding Hennepin County communities.
Are there remote pediatric physical therapist jobs in Minneapolis?
Yes, but only in limited circumstances, since hands-on patient care cannot be delivered remotely. About 17% of pediatric physical therapist openings tied to Minneapolis are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a small share of telehealth consultations and case-management roles. The most remote-compatible functions locally include documentation review, care coordination, and home program development for established patients.
How can I get a pediatric physical therapist job in Minneapolis with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Minneapolis is a clinical fellowship or residency at one of the city's pediatric hospital systems, which often convert to full-time roles. School-based therapy contracts through Minneapolis Public Schools and early intervention programs funded by Hennepin County also hire new graduates. Volunteering with adaptive sports organizations in the metro and completing fieldwork rotations at pediatric outpatient clinics strengthens a candidate's local profile before applying.
Which industries hire the most pediatric physical therapists in Minneapolis?
Most pediatric physical therapist openings in Minneapolis sit in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Science & Research, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Minneapolis's concentration of academic medical centers, large independent pediatric therapy networks, and a robust public school special education system makes it one of the more active metro hiring markets in the Upper Midwest.
