Pediatric Social Worker Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a pediatric social worker in Texas?
Becoming a pediatric social worker in Texas requires earning a Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited program, then obtaining licensure through the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners. Most clinical roles require the Licensed Master Social Worker credential, with the Licensed Clinical Social Worker designation needed for independent practice. Supervised field hours completed during your MSW program count toward initial licensure requirements, and many Texas employers offer supervision support for new graduates pursuing advanced credentials.
Which companies hire pediatric social workers in Texas?
Employers hiring pediatric social workers in Texas right now include Ascension and Dialysis Clinic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of large academic medical centers and dedicated children's hospital systems means consistent openings across both inpatient and community-based settings throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most pediatric social worker jobs?
Austin have the most pediatric social worker openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense cluster of children's hospitals and medical center campuses, Dallas-Fort Worth draws high volume through its large hospital networks and school district programs, and San Antonio's substantial military family population and growing pediatric health infrastructure sustain steady demand as well.
Are there remote pediatric social worker jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're limited. The hands-on, assessment-driven nature of pediatric social work keeps most roles on-site or in the field. About 0% of pediatric social worker openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and the positions most likely to allow remote work are care coordination, utilization review, and telehealth-based counseling roles rather than direct hospital or casework positions.
How can I get hired as a pediatric social worker in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a social work intern or social work associate role at a large Texas children's hospital or county health and human services agency while completing your MSW supervised hours. Texas Children's Hospital and Cook Children's both run structured new-graduate and fellowship pathways for social workers. Lateral moves from case management, child life specialist, or family advocate roles are also common entry points, and holding an active LMSW, even if newly issued, gives candidates a concrete edge over applicants still pursuing licensure.
Where can I find and apply to pediatric social worker jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to pediatric social worker jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across hospitals, school districts, and child welfare organizations. Search the listings, find roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
