CT Tech Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ct tech in Texas?
To work as a ct tech in Texas, you must hold a license issued by the Texas Medical Board under the Medical Radiologic Technologist certification program. Candidates complete an accredited radiologic technology program, pass the ARRT examination in Radiography, and then obtain CT-specific training or post-primary certification in CT through ARRT. The Texas Medical Board oversees licensure, and active certification must be maintained through continuing education.
How much do CT teches make in Texas?
CT teches in Texas earn a median of about $78,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,550 for the lowest 10% to over $102,630 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire ct techs in Texas?
Employers hiring ct techs in Texas right now include Baylor Scott & White Health, Memorial Hermann Health System, and CommonSpirit Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large integrated health systems and freestanding imaging networks generate consistent openings across both urban medical centers and suburban outpatient facilities throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most ct tech jobs?
Houston, Austin, and Dallas have the most ct tech openings in Texas. Houston leads due to its concentration of major medical centers and Level I trauma hospitals, while Dallas and San Antonio support high volumes of imaging work through their large regional health systems, academic medical centers, and growing networks of outpatient imaging clinics.
Are there remote ct tech jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. CT tech work is fundamentally hands-on and requires physical operation of imaging equipment and direct patient care, so fully remote roles are not common. About 0% of ct tech openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve teleradiology support, scheduling coordination, or quality review functions rather than direct scanning duties.
How can I get hired as a ct tech in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a graduate radiographer or CT tech trainee role at a large Texas hospital system such as Baylor Scott and White Health, HCA Healthcare's Texas division, or UT Health, which run new-graduate training programs and structured onboarding rotations. Lateral moves from radiologic technologist or MRI tech positions are a common door-opener, and holding your ARRT CT post-primary certification while still completing clinical hours gives applicants a competitive edge with Texas hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to ct tech jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to ct tech jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, and multispecialty clinics. Find the roles that fit your experience and credentials below and apply directly.
