CPHT Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a cpht in Texas?
To work as a cpht in Texas, you must register with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy before you begin working. Registration requires completing a board-approved pharmacy technician training program or accumulating sufficient on-the-job hours under a licensed pharmacist. Most Texas employers also expect national certification through PTCB or ExCPT, which requires passing a standardized exam. Maintaining registration means completing continuing education every two years.
Which companies hire cphts in Texas?
Companies currently hiring cphts in Texas include Sam's Club, Conduent, and ValuMed Pharmacy, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's combination of large retail pharmacy networks and major hospital systems like HCA Healthcare and UT Health means openings appear across both community and inpatient settings throughout the state.
Which Texas cities have the most cpht jobs?
San Antonio, Beaumont, and Cleveland have the most cpht openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its massive medical center complex and dense retail pharmacy presence, while Dallas and San Antonio generate high volume through their large suburban populations, major hospital systems, and regional distribution centers for national pharmacy chains.
Are there remote cpht jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. The cpht role is hands-on by nature, requiring direct handling of medications, compounding, and in-person patient-facing tasks that can't be performed remotely. About 13% of cpht openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are almost entirely in prior authorization review, pharmacy benefits management, or telepharmacy oversight roles.
How can I get hired as a cpht in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to retail pharmacy training programs, where chains like CVS Health and Walgreens hire candidates without experience and register them with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy on the job. Large Texas hospital systems such as UT Southwestern and Memorial Hermann also hire entry-level techs into structured training tracks. Candidates who already hold a Texas Board of Pharmacy student registration or a PTCB candidacy status stand out immediately. Adjacent roles like medical receptionist or pharmacy cashier are common lateral starting points.
Where can I find and apply to cpht jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to cpht jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience, location, and setting preference, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
